Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Title continues, "Instructing our Senators and requesting our Representatives, to adhere to the policy of the loyal people of the Republic, as adopted by Congress." The Wisconsin legislature condemns Johnson for firing Edwin M. Stanton. Proclaims support of Stanton.

Fairchild was the governor of Wisconsin for three consecutive terms from 1865-1871.
