The Paymaster General of the Army notes his receipt of vouchers from Captain Bryant. Notes that Nathaniel Gorham has been directed to remit $2000 to Bryant for the "expenses of the ordnance department." Written from the "Accountants Office."
Joseph Howell had served in the American Revolution, when the Constitution was passed he became Paymaster General of the Army, with the rank of Major. He held the office until his death.
Captain John Bryant was the Deputy Commissary of Military Stores at the Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts.
