Written in secretarial hand and signed by Green as Assistant Inspector in charge of Ordinance at the Ordinance Office of the Boston Navy Yard to the firm William Boud & Son. Says three chronometers will be sent to them to be put in good order.

Green served as a captain in the blockade during the Civil War and was on the USS Canandaigua and the USS John Adams for at least part of the war (he might have served on other ships, but only these two could be discovered).
