Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Wright writes to his niece Mary Kellogg, congratulating her on her marriage to Mr. Kellogg. States he will send photographs of his family and extends an invitation for her and her new husband to visit. Claims Terra Haute is destined to be the leading city of Indiana, with manufacturing and commercial enterprise booming.

Wright is Mary (Wright) Kellogg's uncle.
