Appears to be written and signed by Franklin's brother Milton. Writes that he is happy yet sad that he received Franklin's letter from Nashville, Tennessee. He is surprised to hear that Franklin has not received his last letter as he mailed it before the Battle of Stone River. He has read the papers and reports of the Battle of Chickamauga carefully to see if there is any indication as to his "silence." He has asked anyone if they have heard news on him. Thinks that Franklin "forgetting him" is a poor excuse as his brother thinks of him often. Writes that he watches the movement of the Army of the Cumberland very closely. Just because Uncle Sam provides all of his needs does not mean that he is not forgotten at home. He would like to hear how is brother is getting along and would like to know about his everyday life. The latest papers tell him of more fighting. Wants to know what role, if any, he played in the battles. There is not much excitement to report in his hometown. They are subject to military drills one day every week. He is expecting a new addition to the family in a week or two.
Franklin W. Fuller from Howard, Illinois enlisted on 14 August 1862 as a Sergeant. He mustered into the I Company of the Illinois 74th Infantry on 4 September 1862. He was mustered out on 10 June 1865 in Nashville, Tennessee.
