Writes that he has sent $250 home.

June 2 1862 Three o'clock P.M. The weather is so hot today that by Dr Storrs Advice the Battalion Drill is dispensed with & so I am about start- ing for the city of Newburn to pack off my money. June 3 - 7 o'clock AM went over to the city yesterday PM & Expressed to you $ 250. paid express & insurances charges but forgot to put in my letter so I send it off this morning hoping it will be in time for the steamer that leaves to day. Nothing new. Are very well. Our Drill hours have been changed & we now try in the day, with Reveille at 5 AM & end with taps at 8-45 PM. There is no drilling from 9 AM to 4 PM, All the middle of the day being devoted to sleeping & trying to keep cool, it is not considered safe to drill it is so warm. Five of my men fainted last evening at Dress Parade, the sun at that timeA 6 PM shines right in our faces. They were all over it when we came in from the parade ten or fifteen minutes after. Best love to every body & my whole heart to my family & home. Aff Brother Chas Lt Eaton expected every boat now. I fear he will be taken right down again coming from old Contt to this hot bed.
