Writes in response to a letter received from his family and requests mosquito netting.
Newport News. July 23 Dear All, I have been intending writing each day but something has interfered & now I shall be late for todays mail if I write more than a line. Recd yesterday one of yours ^of 9th inst. that has just retn from Newbern. There is a battery just passing I go to see if it is Capt Rockwell's, which may have arrived. Cant this minute find what it is. If this reaches you before you send the shirts I wish you would send a piece of that - stiff - mosquito bars are made of a yard or - two - square. Col Harland drilled his brigade for first time yesterday afternoon. I must close this I aint thro. Will write again soon. Font send me any thing I should have to carry. Am very well. Chas Geo Moore is up from Newbern & has boxes with him - shall get mine this day.
