Written as Secretary of War, Knox directs Morris to help Captain John Smith recruit in New York City.
Morris, a Lieutenant at West Point, was son of General Lewis Morris a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and great grandson of New Jersey governor and New York Chief Justice Lewis Morris.
