Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports that the Commander in Chief has postponed the execution of three soldiers, Ephraim Barker, Archibald McDonald, and John Batuze until November 1st. Phineas Smith, a waggoner in the Quarter Master General's employ, is free to return to duty. Wayne was the general in command of the United States Army in Greeneville, Ohio.
