Captain Ingraham writes to a general who remains unnamed in this letter. States "I drop you a line to say we are all quiet here... Lincoln seems determined to carry it on..." Predicts that the Union will not attempt to invade the location of the recipient. Reports that he will soon travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to visit his family. Writes "I wish you could trick up a few more deserters, they will demoralize the command of our genialBrown..." Relates that a mutual acquaintance, Warden, is still held as a prisoner of war. Docket states "About Pensacola." Accompanied by paper backing.

…we are all quiet here, the war will soon be upon the northern border, and Lincoln seems determined to carry it on with fire; and sword. You may have a battle, but I suppose it will be across the water; for I do not think they will attempt to invade you…I hope you will give my boy a prominent position should we come to blows. I wish you could pick up a few more deserters; they will demoralize the command of our genial Brown. Warden is still held a prisoner of war, and the Govt. deem it expedient to still keep him I have not seen him yet I [illegible] they could be [illegible] ft. pickens [illegible] Sake, Resignations from both Army, and Navy, are going on daily, and we shall soon be equally divided…I saw the President and informed of all you desired…
