Two officers and a civilian stand on the steps of the "Office of the Commissary General of Prisoners." The officer on the right is Gen. William Hoffman. The office itself was located in Washington, D.C. at F. St. and 20th NW. The address on the building reads "148."A man and a young boy stand just inside the doorway and another man looks out the window on the right. Inscription on verso: "Gardner." Numeric notations on verso "XXIV"; "88"; and "288." Nearly identical photo can be seen in .0122.
