Writes to the Adjutant General of the Army about plans for an expedition to Oklahoma between the Santa Fe trail and the Red River, to be led by Colonel Davenport. Hopes to obtain "valuable information in regard to a district of country but perfectly known" and to exert "a salutary influence among the prairie Indians, by a respectable demonstration of force along the frontier." Also mentions reports that a group of Texans plan to attack a caravan of Santa Fe traders.
