Gen. Green Clay Smith proposes that Col. Basil K. Duke may give his parole of honor to not attempt to escape, and thereupon be [struck: released] [inserted: changed] from his supposed unhealthy place of confinement to a more healthy one; and that he, Gen. Smith will be responsible that Col. Duke will faithfully keep his parole. Let it be done.
