Includes an article about a flag of truce passing through Paducah, at which point a Confederate flag waved outside a window, causing Union soldiers to be angry. Includes articles discussing the continuance of the Civil War, other local and national news, and advertisements.
The Union Picket Guard newspaper was established following the Defunct Paducah Herald, possibly by the men of the 8th and 9th Regiments of Illinois Infantry, and the Chicago Company of Light Artillery.
