Jefferson Davis and his family are captured in Irwin County, Gerogia by Col. Pritchard. Davis attempts to escape by disguising himself in his wife's petticoat. Along with Davis and his family, Postmaster General Reagan, Col. Harrison his personal secretary, and others were also captured.
The first issue of The New York Daily Times was published on September 18, 1851. "Daily" was dropped from the title in 1857. The paper was founded by Henry Jarvis Raymond and George Jones.
