Lincoln serves as a lawyer in the case of Robert versus Andrew Orr. Signed "Lincoln & Stuart," indicating that Lincoln oversaw the case with John Todd Stuart, his first law partner. The plaintiff of the case indicates that promissory notes "were given on and for goods and valuable consideration..."
Stuart was active in national and Illinois state politics. He served as a Representative from Illinois 1839-1842 and 1863-1864.
