Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

V-Mail: Sylvia plans to shovel her driveway. Her supervisor at work just has found out that her husband's pre-induction notice is waiting at home for him. Tells him she is ready for whatever comes and is going to Rose Haber's tomorrow and will be able to tell him all about Fort Lewis, because her husband is stationed there.
