Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe writes that he received Sylvia's note written on the trail. He writes about his new ranking as T-4. He is now C.Q (charge of quarters) and has to stay up all night so he can change the guard every two hours. Moe also mentions that his distinction is shown on his shirts now and appears more imposing than his old rank.
