Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe responds to Sylvia's previous letter. He hopes her father is feeling better and that her mother gets a chance to ease up soon but doesn't think it's possible. He hopes Joe gets over his setback and acknowledges that's it must feel strange that Emma doesn't come to visit anymore.
