Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe responds to Sylvia's letters saying he can't believe the house needs to be repainted. He still sees it as it was a year ago. He also reports that some of his clothes have been attacked by moths and laments the fact that she has still not received any recent mail from him.
