Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Conner happily reports to Nueal that "I am gaining some weight now feel so much better than I did for two months." He writes that he wishes he could spend Xmas with "you all. But as it is we are still well and that the best part of it." He also tells Nueal that he received a package from mom and Erma. Conner sends his love and closes the letter.
