At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One letter from June Walter to Leonard Eugene Graeff dated September 21, 1943. June updates Leonard with what's "'buzzing' around." She asks if he could explain the term "flying line" and if he had heard from Fuzzy. Signed, "June." The letter head is stamped with an image of two dancers and the name June Walter.
