One letter from Robert Winemiller to Leonard Eugene Graeff dated November 28, 1943. Robert writes that he hadn't written earlier as he didn't have Leonard's address. He inquires if Leonard had a good visit home, and mentions that he was home for four days after Leonard left. He and Dotty are "on the outs" again. He has been sent to another base. He is not allowed to tell Leonard where but states it is somewhere warm, and close to Mexico. He will be receiving desert training there, and will have to live in a tent with no running water for three months. He mentions a Notre Dame football game. He also mentions that he got his first ribbon, a good conduct medal. Robert signs as "Doughboy Bob."

Notre Dame had a undefeated season in 1943, until they played Great Lakes Navy on November 27. They lost 14-19.
