At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One letter from Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Jacobson to Congressman Carlos J. Moorhead dated November 13, 1973. The Jacobsons are against the impeachment of President Nixon and believe that impeachment will interrupt other focuses of government.

Carlos J. Moorhead served on the Judiciary Committee during the impeachment hearings of President Nixon. Moorhead voted no on all three Articles of Impeachment adopted by the House Judiciary Committee on July 27, 1974.
