At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One pamphlet entitled, "The answer is Full Employment" written by Joseph Gaer and Robert K. Lamb with illustrations by William Krokyn dated 1944. The pamphlet recommends steps towards full employment: equal opportunity; wage rates; unemployment pay; social security; and freedom to political action. Also mentions a bill written by Democratic leaders of Utah, New York and Wyoming known as the Murray-Patman Full Employment Bill.

This is No. 4 in PAC's (Political Action Committee) Pamphlet of the Month series.

The Murray-Patman Full Employment Bill refers to the Employment Act of 1946 stating it was the responsibility of the government to provide welfare, ensure economic stability and employment opportunities.
