Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One book titled "The Pathway to Peace" published by The Maple Press Company, dated 1942. The book contains reprintings of two addresses by President Franklin Roosevelt. The first is his address to Congress on December 8, 1941, the day following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The second is a radio address that aired on December 9, 1941. Book is part of a limited edition printing.

A sticker on the inside of the front cover reads "Carl and Margaret Rollins."
