Lear's agreement to the bond mentioned in GLC 2794.168. Countersigned by W.S. Nicholls.
Know all men by those present, that Tobias Lear of the city of Washington, within District of Columbia, and held and firmly bound sent to James Calder of George Town in the same District, in the full & just sum of four thousand dollars, current money, to be paid unto the said James Calder, his certain attorney executors administrators or [illegible]; to which payment well & truly to be made, I lend myself, my heir executor & administration [illegible] by these presents, I sealed with my seal, and dated this first day of September, in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred fifteen.--
The condition of the above obligation is back, that if the above bound Tobias Lear, his heir executors or administrators, a either of them shall well & truly pay, or tender in payments, or cause to be paid or tendered unto the above name James Calder, his executors, administrators or assigns, the full & just sum of two thousand dollars, current money of the [struck] United States of America on, or at any time before (in the option of the said Tobias Lear, his heirs, executors or administrators) the first day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand, eight hundred and seventeen, together with so much legal interest as may be due thereon at this time of payment or tendering in payment as aforesd [sic] then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be remain in full [illegible] & virtue in law. --
