Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A list of military stores at Fishkill, including information on firearms and bayonets. No name appears on the document, but author might be John Ruddock: see GLC02437.01460 for letter of 20 June from Samuel Shaw to John Ruddock, asking Ruddock to provide a return of his firearm stores as soon as possible. Ruddock was Commissary of Military Stores at Fishkill.
