Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Has had letters written this week, but has had no opportunity to send them to Boston. Has gotten all his bedding, except the bottom layer. Reports they had a "Civic feast" in Boston. Wonders if there was one in Philadelphia. Place written assumed to be Hingham, Massachusetts from GLC02437.05792, which states Henry Jackson Knox was staying with his aunt and uncle there.
