At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

In a petition addressed to the Lord Treasurer Sidney Godolphin, Livingston requests repayment for victualling from 24 December 1699 to 24 April 1700. P.2 contains an ALS from William Blathwayt to Earl of Ranelagh dated 20 June 1700; re: warrant to make payment on the accounts of the Four Companies of New York from 26 March 1699 to 24 December 1699.
