Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Livingston asks for some serious consideration of the agent and the auditor general, and how they have worked for New York. He notes that from now on, the revenue of the province must only be handled by some one of the King's appointing, and he also expresses his confidence in the abilities of their current agent.
