Addressed to "Dad + Bee." Thanks them for the "swell selection of sweets," he really appreciates that they both sent a few things. He should be getting out of the hospital in a week, but found out that his crew received their orders and are leaving. Thanks them for the food and frequent letters.
The letter is dated "Saturday." "Letters in a Box," notes the letter was sent on March 4, 1944.
Robert "Bob" Stone was a Bombardier in World War II and served in the Pacific Front. These letters, were compiled by Bob's wife, Sheila M. Stone, and Ali Adair into a book named Letters in a Box. This book details Bob's service to his country, and his life after the war. Bob's letters were donated to the collection by his wife, Sheila M. Stone, in 2017. It contains a variety of letters, postcards, patches, pins, photographs, and scrapbooks that relate to Bob's training and combat missions.

Dear Dad & Bee -
Both packages of eats arrived much to the pleasure of Bob and numerous ward mates. Can't thank you enough for the swell selection of sweets. Really appreciated the thoughtfulness to say nothing of alot of delicious food. That was certainly a coincidence (and a lucky one for me) that both of you sent something the same day.
Everything goes well at this end and my leg is coming along just fine. Was over at the club on pass again yesterday and as always it was good to be out of here for a few hours. If all goes well, I ought to be out of here in a week or so.
I saw all of the kids in my flight yesterday and it broke my heart to see them getting ready to leave. Their orders came through and they leave tomorrow.

It's really tough to be separated from all of them particularly since I've been with some of them for almost a year. There are a few of us who have been together ever since cadet days, and it's kinda rough not to continue on with them. 'Nuff said.
I can't think of any more news since life in the hospital is extremely routine and extraordinarily dull. Again many thanks for the boxes of food and for your frequent letters - keep 'em up.
Lots of love -
Bobby
