Addressed to "Dad+Bee." The mail is a mess, so he got a box at the local post office, and includes his new address. He hopes all goes well and asks them to pass on his address.

The letter is dated "Monday 17th." "Letters in a Box," notes the letter was sent on April 17, 1944.

Robert "Bob" Stone was a Bombardier in World War II and served in the Pacific Front. These letters, were compiled by Bob's wife, Sheila M. Stone, and Ali Adair into a book named Letters in a Box. This book details Bob's service to his country, and his life after the war. Bob's letters were donated to the collection by his wife, Sheila M. Stone, in 2017. It contains a variety of letters, postcards, patches, pins, photographs, and scrapbooks that relate to Bob's training and combat missions.

Monday 17th
Dear Dad & Bee -
Nothing new since I last wrote except my address. With the change over from the 399th to the 420th there is a terrific amount of confusion with the mail and all combat crews collect their mail at one, instead of three mail rooms as we use to. So, I got myself a box at the post office and my new address is -
Lt. R. L. S. 0-696041
Box 1416
March Field, Calif.
In the future please use this address and pass it on to the boys and anyone else who wants to write me.
Hope all goes well with you Dad, re the navy. Write me all the dope.
Love -- Bobby
