Describes the capture of 600 soldiers, the capture of Southside railroad, and the arrival of General Philip Henry Sheridan with his cavalry force. Highlights the gallantry by members of the army including the retrieval of wounded soldiers near enemy's line, and setting fire to two story house from where the rebel sharpshooters were perched.
