Title: Confederate Baptist. [Vol. 1, no. 47 (September 23, 1863)]
"An Essay" describes the grand instrumentality of the Church and is continued in the following issue. A long letter from an army chaplain describes meeting with soldiers and preaching the gospel. An article titled "To all the Chaplains in the Confederate States" instructs chaplains. Brief didactic articles include "Blasphemy," "Chaplains," "A New Style of Christian," and "The Return of Blessings." A report of the "Edgefield Baptist Association" describes the ministry, the church buildings, and their war donations. "Notes on the Times" reports on Charleston, Union victory at Bristol, and a telegraph from General Braxton Bragg fighting at Chickmauga.
