At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One postcard from to H. Rebaul from J. Rebaul dated March 2, 1914. Front of postcard has text that is related to women's right to vote. Reverse side contains a note on her travel plans for returning home by Saturday evening. Additionally there is a seal that reads "the ballot is denied to woman, the blot on the escutcheon" against an emblem with an American flag. Signed "from Ma, J. Rebaul."
