Co-signed by George Harrison. Asks Delancey, Lieutenant Governor of New York, for permission to outfit a privateer. The ship they want to outfit is the Columbine, a 90-ton ship with eight guns to be manned by 40 men commanded by a Bernard Badger.

Marked "duplicate." Written from "Leicester Square," likely in London, England. Addressed to Samuel Waldo, Francis Waldo, Isaac Winslow, and Thomas Flucker. Writes, "The enclosed copy [not present] of the Petition which I have presented to His Majesty in Council on your behalf will shew you what measures have been taken to obtain the Royal approbation of your grant." Apparently is trying to counter the Crown's claim on lands between the Penobscot and St. Croix Rivers in Maine, which Waldo et. al. consider part of the Waldo patent.

Unsigned, but author may be Samuel Waldo, Francis Waldo, Isaac Winslow, or Thomas Flucker, as the letter is a response to a letter Bollan wrote to them (see GLC02437.09014). Thank him for going to all the trouble of submitting a petition to His Majesty and the Court for receiving compensation for a portion of land. Are unsure how much of a financial recompense is suitable to pay him, so ask him to mention a sum.

Title: [Legal document to the Justices of the Court of General Sessions of the Peace at Charlestown in Middlesex County, Massachusetts]

Countersigned by "Jon. Sewall." Legal document created by Adams in defense of the town of Stoneham, Massachusetts. The town of Framingham, Massachusetts had removed James and Rebekah Holden and their daughter Naomi as poor residents who could not support themselves and sent them back to Stoneham, where the officials of Framingham said they were from. Adams says the Holden family was not from Stoneham and that the town should not have to take them in as a charity case. Sewall's note on verso says that Selectmen of Framingham state Stoneham is the home of the Holden family.

Title: [Complaint from settlers at Broad Bay]

Signed by Schnaudiel as well as over twenty others. The authors, all German by birth, allege that in 1753, they were approached in Germany by Samuel Waldo, Jr. and offered settlement at Broad Bay in New England. The authors sold their homes in Germany and traveled to Broad Bay, where Waldo reneged on his promises, giving them less land, and land in poorer locations. Note on page 3 indicates that some of the signatories presented the petition to John Hill, Justice of the Peace, who signed it as a witness.
