Serving as President of the United States, John Quincy Adams certifies that Naw-kaw, a Winnebago chief, smoked the peace pipe with him in Washington, D.C. Countersigned by Peter Buell Porter, Secretary of War. Reports that Adams has full confidence in the determination of Naw-kaw and his associates to maintain perpetual peace and friendship with the United States. Contains a gold War Office seal.
